We have recently concluded our participation in the Compliance & Transparency Week, an event held at the Regent Hotel, Singapore from September 23 - September 27. The event is organised by The British High Commission in Singapore, with a focus on addressing the various challenges facing the financial industry, the wider corporate world, and governments.
Prior to the two sessions he was originally slated to participate in, our CEO Chye Kit was invited to take part in a panel dubbed “Crypto-Currencies – Flash in the pan, the future of Money, or a money launderers paradise”, which featured a number of leading figures in Singapore’s FinTech community and explored the future of cryptocurrencies in light of increasing regulatory scrutiny and developments like Libra and the future of their regulation.
On the following day Chye Kit, along with a panel of RegTech experts, spoke on the subject of implementation of RegTech solutions info financial institutions and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of opting for in-house development vs. development outsourcing.
Shortly after, he joined Benedicte Nolens, Chief Compliance Officer at SC Ventures in a session on blockchain and cryptocurrencies where he discussed the ways RegTech should adapt to these emerging technologies, as well as the ways of making the system more transparent and compliant when it is used in place of regulated currencies.
